Electrical Passed!

I couldn't be prouder of my hubby! We had our electrical inspection today and we passed with flying colours. They didn't even need to go down to the basement and check out the electrical panel. They saw that he had done such a nice job on the main level he didn't feel like he needed to go downstairs.
Tomorrow the dry wall guys start first thing in the morning to start installing insullation and drywall.

Oscar is watching the kids out the window...Guard Dog!

Ready for insullation and drywall tomorrow

Finally settled on Kitchen design

After a couple of months of going to different cabinet makers for pricing and designs we have finally settled on a design by Leggo Kitchens from Woodstock. He was very easy to deal with, very accommodating and gave us a great price.

This is the design for the kitchen. I liked the staggered look of the cabinets and the wine rack. Over the stove we've decided to do a stainless steel hood fan like the one above. The island we have changed the design of again so that it is all one level rather than having the one side drop down to table height. I like the idea of there being more counter space to work with, it will also be a good surface for putting food and stuff on for get togethers. And if people come over and I'm in the kitchen when they sit at the island we'll be eye to eye.

Now we just have to go finalize the colour of the cabinets and counter tops, hardware etc. But at least we are settled on our "guy". We went through a few to find him but he is great.

Brick pick...

I've picked colours/finishes for the exterior of the house...

Morning smoke is the colour of the brick, weatherwood for the roof and that small sample is the colour for the garage doors and exterior trim and fascia on the house. The front door is a mahogany stained door.

This is the outdoor pendant light for the front entrance, in front of the mahogany door.

Now we just need some nice weather so that we can get the exterior work started!

Wires, wires and more wires!

No new pics to post but we have some more progress. Hubby has been working his butt off every day after work. As of today we are officially ready for insulation and drywall. He has wired the whole house for hydro, lights, cable, computers, and speaker systems. We had the alarm system installed this weekend too. We have contracted someone to come and do the insulation and drywall next week after our inspection for the electrical is done on Wednesday.
Wish us luck!

Slow and Steady...Oh and SOLD!!!

My posts are falling behind, but only because this dumb blogger site won't always let me post pics! So our house sold. Our closing date is March 28th. Our house won't be ready by then I'm sure so we'll have to go stay with my in laws for at least a month. We are hoping for end of April for our place to be ready, but it is hard to predict at this point.

Anyway, the roof is on and shingled. We have windows, which look so good. We got windows with pewter grills on the inside, and the grills are just along the outsides of the window not through the window like most windows have. The pewter is really subtle and looks nice.
My hubby has literally been working his butt off  - literally - he has lost quite a bit of weight the bastard! He works from 6-2 everyday and then heads over to the house and works there until supper time. He'll come home and eat and then go back and work till about 930-10 almost every night. He has had a hand in almost every step in the progress so far. The furnace and water heater are in. The duct work is done. We have our inspection by Union Gas tomorrow to make sure everything is in good order. He has been working on the electrical and has a lot done so far. I have to give credit where credit is due. He will really be able to say that he helped build his family home.

The plumbing is getting done the a contractor friend out of Mount Pleasant. This will at least be getting done through the day and then hubby can go in and continue to work on the electrical. We were hoping to be able to start drywalling soon.

We are almost settled on the kitchen design and I think this is what we are going with more or less.
Maple Cabinet - Autumn BrownThis is the colour I'm thinking for the cabinetsThis is kind of what I'm thinking for the counter top. I found one I like but I couldn't find the exact picture of it online. But I think it was similar to this.

Getting busy picking out things like lighting now too. And I've started packing  - I hate packing.

Anyway, no new pics of the house yet but nothing really worth taking pics of right now. But I will continue to keep you posted on our progress.
